5 reasons you need to capture your pregnancy

The phrase I hear the most is “I WISH I had more photos from my pregnancy!” I’ve even said it myself. The time goes by so quickly and often, you're not feeling your best, especially as your bump continue to grow. It’s innate to enjoy the kicks you feel from your baby, but it seems as though it’s not so natural to admire the changes that are happening to your body during this time. From someone who has very few pictures from my pregnancy, here are my top 5 reasons why you SHOULD document this journey.

To capture the beauty of pregnancy and celebrate your body

Some people feel better than ever during pregnancy, naturally love their body and all that it’s doing and so what better reason to capture this fleeting time?

However, if you're like I was, and feeling self-conscious about your growing bump, maybe developing stretch marks and carrying extra water weight (while also enjoying the process of growing your little bundle of joy), the idea of getting in front of the camera can be quite daunting. It’s you that I’m hoping to reach with this post because once your little one arrives, you will hopefully look back at all of those things with kinder eyes and be grateful for everything that your body did to bring your little one safely into the world. A maternity portrait session is a great way to honour those things, not necessarily for right now, but for the future you, for the ‘Mum’ you.

Preserve this moment

This is temporary. It's a moment you'll want to freeze in time and one that seems like a flash in hindsight. Once your baby is here, you will quickly forget what your body looked like and the ups and downs of pregnancy will be a distant memory.

Take some time out for yourself, to enjoy this journey.

This is a time to celebrate YOU and all your body is doing. Treat yourself, give yourself a pamper (or book in to Studio18 and have the girls look after you!) Maternity sessions are such a treat and a nice way to take some time out, soak in your pregnancy and make a beautiful memory for yourself and your family, before little one arrives.

Connect with your family as it is now.

Bring the rest of the family too, involve your partner and Children. Allow some time to connect with your child/children before their sibling arrives and have them connect with baby. A portrait session is such a great way to start the bonding process between siblings as well as giving them some time to snuggle up with Mum.
